Naming of New School in Miramichi West:

The new school in Miramichi West is scheduled to open in January 2017. This K-8 facility will welcome over 500 students grades K-8 and is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students, parents and staff.

As part of the school naming process ASD-N has initiated a naming committee which will be responsible for submitting three names for the new school to the District Education Council. In order to facilitate this process we are asking the public to submit their choice for the name of the school.

In order to submit a name for consideration, please email your proposed name, complete with a short rationale as to why you feel the name is justified, to the following email address  MiramichiWest@nbed.nb.ca

Please include your name and contact information.

If you do not have access to internet, you can submit your proposed new school name and rationale on a blank piece of paper and place it in a sealed envelope clearly marked Miramichi West Naming Committee and drop it off at Harkins Elementary School, Harkins Middle School, Croft Elementary School or at the School District Office at 78 Henderson Street, Miramichi, NB E1N 2R7.

Submissions will be accepted until Monday February 22, 2016 at 4 p.m.

All submissions will be reviewed by the naming committee. The committee will recommend three names to the District Education Council who in turn will forward the names to the Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. The minister will select the new school name form the submitted proposals.

If you have any questions please contact the School Principal of Miramichi West School, Mark Donovan @ 627-4080.
