Olympic Torch Relay – Miramichi - Final Details November 24, 2009 As per our earlier website posting, this is follow up information pertaining to our school’s participation in the Olympic Torch Relay when it arrives in Miramichi this Friday. Details: K-3 Students – will depart Croft at 10:00 am and walk to Pleasant Street. All K-3 parents are encouraged to participate in this activity with us. The torch will arrive at the corner of Hennessey Street and Pleasant Street at 10:36 a.m. It will then proceed down Pleasant Street, go around the square and return back along Pleasant Street to Hennessey; finishing this leg of the relay at 10:59 a.m. From there the torch will be driven to the James M. Hill track. Gr. 4–5 Students – will depart Croft at 9:45 a.m. and be bussed to James M. Hill. The celebration begins at J.M.H. at 10:15 a.m. The torch will arrive at the J.M.H. site at 11:20 a.m. The festivities will continue until 12:20 p.m. The grade 4 & 5 students should take a snack, along with juice/water as they will be eating a late lunch on this day. Due to the late arrival time back at school, the cafeteria will not be open to buy lunches. Students in Gr. 4/5, therefore, must bring a bag lunch on this day           Special Notes: 1) As this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, parents may wish to take their child to the ceremony at the JMH track and share the moment. If you decide to do this, please inform your child’s teacher beforehand. Your child will not be marked absent if he/she attends the event at J.M.H. Additional details may be found at the link below: http://www.vancouver2010.com/more-2010-information/olympic-torch-relay/o... 2) Let’s give the torch a truly patriotic reception by bringing out as many Canadian flags possible, painting our faces red/white, etc. 3) The Olympic Torch follows a strict schedule, rain or shine. Our plan is to have everyone participate in this activity. In the event of severe weather on Friday, however, a decision may need to be made at the last minute to cancel. 4) Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather. Hats, mittens, winter boots and umbrellas are recommended. We hope the Olympic Torch Visit will be a truly memorable experience for everyone.
