Spelling Test on Unit 13
Writing Assignment, Dear Mr. Donovan, Due on Friday
Beginning on Wednesday, February 10th, 20 minutes of English Reading every night ( Sun- Thurs) and 1 journal entry due on Friday. Novels will be selected in class on Wednesday during class.

This week's writing assignment is a persuasive piece, directed towards Mr. Donovan. The purpose of this letter is to give him feedback about the things you would like to see at the new school. This could include the types of activities you feel are needed for students, the type of equipment needed for the new school, teams you feel are appropriate; anything that you feel would be valuable to the school.
Remember that in a persuasive piece, you are required to give reasons/ facts to back up what you are saying. In other words, you need to be a great lawyer and present a great argument to support your case. You should have three reasons to support your cause. We will go over how to present these arguments in class.

Parents are invited to view projects the students completed over the past two weeks, about a Canadian animal of their choosing. This was part of a unit on learning how to do research and start a project. Each student was required to make a four page book about their animal to include information about the animal's appearance, habitat, food source and caring for the young, as well as a page on interesting facts that they found during their research. The books are now completed and many of the students have gone the extra mile and created beautiful posters to accompany their books. They are certainly worth viewing and will be displayed in the lobby for the next week or so.
