Welcome To Our Page

We have spent most of the day working on our Animal projects and did not have the time to do Haiku poems in class. For that reason, we will not assign the Haiku as homework for tonight. Do Not Do  the Haiku Poem!

I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday. That storm day was fun, but we are now behind on our work. This week we will concentrate on our writing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on Tuesday and Thursday (if it isn't a storm day) we will work on reading. You have planned your stories now and some of you have begun your introductions. This week we will finish the organization trait and complete our draft copies. We will also work on detail and using million dollar words. See you on Monday. A quick reminder that if you have your own recorder, please bring it in for Monday.

Thursday, if there is school, we will be doing silent reading in class and I will be working with guided reading groups. I ask that if you are reading a book at home that you want to continue reading in class, that you bring it in. Those of you without books will get one in class. Lacey, I could not find your book. Sorry. The special word for Thursday is 'hook'. What does that have to do with what we were discussing in class? See you on Thursday.... or maybe Friday?

Are you ready to come back to school? I can't wait to see you on Tuesday. Boy, do I have news for you! No, Kailla, I did not get a basset hound, but maybe in the spring. Next week we will begin a new unit in English called, "What Makes a Good Story?" I would like you to do two things for me. Think of a movie you have seen that you would say had a great story line to it. And secondly, bring in a copy of your favorite book, if you have a copy. If you don't have a copy of it, don't worry, I'll help you get one at school. Of course in this unit you will also be writing great stories, so be thinking about what you'd like to write about, and how you will make it a great story. I'm looking forward to seeing you in 4 more sleeps!

The majority of the work on this project will be completed in Language Arts class. Each part of the project will be modelled for the students and the research books provided in class. Students may want to go on the internet to find other information or pictures for their project. This is allowed. The final project will be presented on poster board and this will be provided in class.
