Thursday, if there is school, we will be doing silent reading in class and I will be working with guided reading groups. I ask that if you are reading a book at home that you want to continue reading in class, that you bring it in. Those of you without books will get one in class. Lacey, I could not find your book. Sorry. The special word for Thursday is 'hook'. What does that have to do with what we were discussing in class? See you on Thursday.... or maybe Friday?

Are you ready to come back to school? I can't wait to see you on Tuesday. Boy, do I have news for you! No, Kailla, I did not get a basset hound, but maybe in the spring. Next week we will begin a new unit in English called, "What Makes a Good Story?" I would like you to do two things for me. Think of a movie you have seen that you would say had a great story line to it. And secondly, bring in a copy of your favorite book, if you have a copy. If you don't have a copy of it, don't worry, I'll help you get one at school. Of course in this unit you will also be writing great stories, so be thinking about what you'd like to write about, and how you will make it a great story. I'm looking forward to seeing you in 4 more sleeps!

I hope everyone is enjoying the vacation and that you will be rested up for the New Year. I loved watching Christmas Around the World and both Mrs. Dickson and I are very proud of your hard work. Your show is wonderful!  I will be posting homework on the this webpage every Sunday, for the following week. For the month of January you will also get your calendar. The homework has changed slightly. You will still have reading and math and spelling each week, however, creative writing will be assigned every second week and on the off weeks we will begin cursive writing practice. See you on Tuesday! And remember 'la fete de roi', we'll be having cake in the morning. Hope you get the lucky bean in your piece of cake.
This assignment will be completed over a two week period. Your letter must be completed and submitted for correction on Wednesday, May 5. Then next week, in class, we will work on the final part of the project. This assignment is for all of my L.A. students. You will need all of the details given in class on Monday, May 3. If you happen to be sick that day, you must see me for more details.
We are preparing for the Rotary Music Festival and need to have costumes lined up for next week.   The Kindergarten classes need to be dressed as cowboys and cowgirls. T'shirts and jeans are fine, but if the children have a cowboy hat, please send it along to school tomorrow, so we can practice. Primary choir is asked to dress in bright colors as we are doing an African song. Girls Choir had been asked to get poodle skirts and t'shirts. It is not necessary to rent them. If the girls don't have them, we will dress in shorts and a t'shirt. All students are asked to dress as a pirate for Wednesday's performance.
