Wow! Where has January gone! We didn't have time to get the blues this year! Now with the rink up and running, the students have lots of opportunities to get on the ice. Mondays, Wednesdays(hockey) and Fridays are for Grades 4 and 5 during lunchtime. Grades 3 to 5 students can stay after school and skate until 4:30. Our class has several sessions during their gym class. Please refer to the schedule sent home. All these skating times are weather permitting. Later in February, we have the Croft Cup that promises to be an exciting day of hockey for both players and spectators. I also plan to have a sliding party a little later on in February. Date to be determined. So there is lots of winter left and I hope the students get out there and enjoy our wonderful Croft ressources!Have a great week everyone!

We are back in full swing! This term promises to be an exciting one with all the winter activities around us. The rink is up and running. The schedule is being finalized and will be sent home shortly. The sliding hill is awesome and students have the opportunity to slide every day at recess time. A reminder that all these activities require winter gear including snowpants. Skaters need helmets and a face mask is strongly encouraged. Hope everyone plays safe and has fun!

HomeworkThere is no official homework this week. However, I have asked the students to make sure they get some reading in whenever they can. ConcertOur concert is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:00. Please ensure that your child has a pair of pyjamas and a santa hat. Food Bank We are having a food bank challenge. The class who brings in the most items per student will win a pizza party. Bring it on guys! Let's help the less fortunate. If you're wondering what foods to send in, they are in desperate need of baby food. Thursday 1/2 day for students Please see the note sent home regarding bussing for this day. I will need to know where your child is going in order to find the appropriate bus for that location. If you are picking up your child, we are not sure yet what time the children will be dismissed but as soon as I get word, I'll post the time.

Tomorrow is Croft's first SHOPPING PARTY for grades 3-5 (Wednesday is K-2).  A pink sheet was sent home this afternoon.  Students are to bring it back with $2/gift to be able to purchase their gifts.  No list = no shopping.  This is a great Home & School fundraiser to help create independence in our children.  Please help them get organize with this tonight.

A month or so ago, we welcomed Bubbles our pet budgie. He was rather quiet but adjusted well to the classroom. We have teams of students that take care of his needs each day. We also take him out to visit us on our shoulders while we work.Last week, Bubbles had a play date with Sunny. Sunny spent the day with Bubbles and they had a great time swinging, playing, singing and cuddling. After Sunny returned home, Bubbles was very lonely and quiet. We realized that Bubbles needed a friend to keep him/her company, so we welcomed a new budgie that we have named Kiwi. They are very happy together. The students are very responsible with our new additions and I am pleased with their kindness towards our birds. We will surely enjoy them throughout the year. Here are some pics:
